Extra impulse e-commerce Zwolle Area


Education and the business community are connected in ‘Top Center E-Commerce’

The ministry of Education, Culture and Science has provide € 700.000 to strengthen e-commerce within Zwolle Area. The initiative originated  from the ‘Top Center E-Commerce. ‘Top Center Ecommerce’ is a partnership of 28 companies*, several educational institutes and the government. The contribution of the ministry will be used to educate people for jobs in e-commerce. Especially for students and employees of community college or higher vocational education level.

 About ‘Top Center E-Commerce’
‘Top Center E-commerce’ develops new educational programs and and organizes regular substantive meetings including master classes, company visits, hackathons, guest lectures and student projects. Zwolle Area is a region where most e-commerce business are located. The companies are national and international orientated. These companies, like De Nieuwe Zaak, IQ Media, Your Hosting and Wehkamp are all represented in the ‘Top Center’. Together with 24 other companies, 5 educational institutes (Deltion College, Landstede, Cibap, Friese Poort and Windesheim), Kennispoort Regio Zwolle, the Province of Overijssel and all 20 municipalities of Zwolle Area.
For the next four years they will join efforts to train and keep educated people to be able to continue to meet customer demand.

Subsidy from the Regional Investment Fund
The ministry of Education, Culture and Science had provide a substantial part of the total investment to carry out this project. All cooperating companies together will account for the other 70 percent, with a substantial contribution from the business sector. One of the objectives of the ‘Top Center E-Commerce’ is to ensure that all educational program are better connected to the labor market. And thanks to the subsidy this faster will become reality. The subsidy is set out for four years and will give ‘Top Center E-commerce’ the opportunity to change rapidly. And above all it will also stimulate the collaboration within the sector and will have a positive influence on the region when it comes to strengthening the position as ‘the e-commerce region of the Netherlands’.
